Donna Sachet

Donna Sachet arrived in San Francisco in 1990 from New York, just beginning to explore her Gay identity and gradually, her drag personality.

After an unsettling year, not yet fully embracing San Francisco, she decided to wait no longer for the city to come to her, but to take action and pursue happiness more agressively. She cancelled her New York Times subscription, began to volunteer at a local AIDS organization, and joined the SF Gay Men’s Chorus. This strategy worked! Within a couple of years, she had moved into a beautiful 3-bedroom house in the Castro and entered the a pageant, becoming Miss Gay San Francisco 1992.

The rest, as they say, is history! She immersed herself in the LGBTQ+ Community, donating countless volunteer hours, and finding her place in this magical place as a singer, emcee, producer, fundraiser, and more. Recognition came her way from Mayors and other elected officials, local activists, and the press and she was crowned Empress XXX of San Francisco in 1995. Donna has created long-running successful events, served on various non-profit Boards of Directors, and definitely left her mark on the city she has come to love. Last year, she fulfilled a long-time dream and attended an LGBTQ+ Celebration at The White House in Washington, DC.
